Join the University of Chicago’s Chicago Center on Democracy, Center for Effective Government, and John W. Boyer Center in Paris on Monday March 3rd for our public panel “The University in a Time of Democratic Erosion.” We will be looking at global examples of the ways that countries experiencing democratic erosion have seen universities targeted, through attempts to purge faculty, restrict student attendance, cutting public funding, replacing university leaders, and the like.

On Monday February 10th from 2:30pm – 4:00pm this interdisciplinary academic panel brings together immigration scholars to examine the enduring and evolving dynamics of immigration control in the United States. Focusing on the cyclical nature of enforcement practices, panelists will explore how historical precedents shape contemporary immigration policies and the lived experiences of immigrant communities, with an eye towards the current administration.
