Please join the Divinity School and the Martin Marty Center on Tuesday, January 21, between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm CST in the Swift Hall, Common Room for the second annual Community Readings event in celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join members of our broader community and participate in a live, continuous reading of some of King’s most significant and illuminating texts, from his well-known speeches to rarely cited essays. Texts will be selected and provided by Marty Center staff.

Schroeder will discuss his book The United States Governed by Six Hundred Thousand Despots, a rediscovered narrative from John Swanson Jacobs, an ex-slave and ex-American.
